Ghana will look to find some crucial momentum when they take on South Korea in both sides final friendly before the FIFA World Cup.
Kwesi Appiah s Ghana lost 1-0 to the Netherlands in Rotterdam at the end of last month and by the same scoreline to Montenegro in March, meaning they have not won since a friendly against Namibia in January.
Ghana, who came within a whisker of qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, face a tough task getting out of Group G in Brazil having been pooled with Germany, Portugal and the United States.
Appiah will surely want his team to gain some confidence on Monday when they clash with South Korea in Miami.
Four years ago, Ghana reached the World Cup quarter-finals but missed out on a berth in the last four…
Joachim Low accepted that Germany have significant improvements to make ahead of Euro 2016 as they prepare to face Italy in Munich on Tuesday.
The world champions were unconvincing during their qualification campaign despite finishing top of their group and were beaten 3-2 by England on Saturday in Berlin after producing yet another underwhelming performance.
Low still feels Germany are among the favourites for the European championship, but insisted they cannot afford to make the same mistakes that they made against England, where they lost a two-goal lead in dramatic fashion.
The world champions are automatically among the favourites to win the European title, but so are France, Belgium, Italy and Spain they all have the ambition to win the title, Low told the…
Brendan Rodgers championed Celtic s perfect performance in their 5-0 Champions League play-off win over Astana and revealed his desire for a Liverpool reunion in the group stage.
The Scottish champions were irresistible at times in Wednesday s first-leg clash at Parkhead, eventually going on to demolish a side which initially looked capable of threatening.
An Evgeni Postnikov own-goal and a Scott Sinclair strike gave Celtic a 2-0 lead going into the break, with the Scottish Player of the Year doubling his tally after an hour.
James Forrest and a Leigh Griffiths-inspired Igor Shitov own-goal wrapped up proceedings late on, leaving Celtic on the brink of group stage qualification and Rodgers could not hide his elation.
It was a brilliant result and perform…
Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Zaniolo have returned to Italy s squad for their next World Cup qualifiers, while Torino midfielder Tommaso Pobega has earned a first call-up.
Roberto Mancini s men face Switzerland at Stadio Olimpico next Friday in a likely shootout for top spot in Group C, with the sides level on 14 points.
The Azzurri then round off their Qatar 2022 group qualifying campaign with a match in Northern Ireland three days later.
Milan midfielder Tonali is part of Mancini s 28-man squad for the double-header, a year on from the most recent of his four senior caps, with Paris Saint-Germain s Marco Verratti out injured.
Zaniolo is back involved after a shorter absence from the team, meanwhile, the Roma attacker having missed out on the squad for Octo…
UAE club Al Ahli have dismissed rumours claiming French outfit Monaco have made a bid for their 20-year-old striker Ahmed Khalil.
French website RMC Sport reported the Ligue 2 club were keen on the UAE international, who was voted Asian Young Footballer of the Year in 2008.
But an Al Ahli spokesperson told The National there had been no move made by Monaco.
We have not heard from any club as yet, and these are just rumours, he said.
According to the report, Monaco were also interested in Ajman s Senegalese forward Ibrahima Toure.
Meanwhile, Al Ahli boss Quique Sanchez Flores denied the club is on the verge of a six-month loan deal for Cameroon international Achille Emana.
Emana appeared certain to leave Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal and it…
Inter director Marco Branca has rejected suggestions that his side are in talks with Manchester City over the transfer of Wesley Sneijder.
British sources had claimed that Inter were willing to use the Dutchman as makeweight in a deal for Carlos Tevez, who is desperate to find a new club before the end of the month.
There were no discussions whatsoever regarding Wesley Sneijder today during our meeting in London with representatives of Manchester City, Branca told Inter s website.
AC Milan seem to be frontrunners in the race to sign Tevez, but Italian sources have claimed in the last days that Inter are also vying for the Argentine s services.
However, with City refusing to accept loan offers for the striker, Inter are reportedly pessimistic about their…
